Exploding minds, 39:1 ROI on internal coaching, Neuroleadership Summit Call for Papers, 3 city tour and more

I have just returned from a busy few weeks in the US, with many wonderful highlights.

It's always a joy to spend time with my friend Jaimie Cloud, who runs the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education. Jaimie is working to teach children, around the world, about the ideas of sustainability.

Also a big congrats to my friend Mark Goulston who recently landed a regular gig as a syndicated columnist for a raft of big US newspapers, called 'Solve anything with Dr Mark.'

Minds exploding!

Another highlight recently was spending time with the original founders of the Blueman Group in NYC, delivering a workshop together for parents and educators. (That's Matt Goldman 'clowning around' on the right). These guys have started a school for kids, and are building a new approach to K-12 education, which I am (along with other experts) involved in. The event was a blast, a mix of art and science, which we called 'The Exploding Mind'. We'll be running more of these later in the year, make sure you sign up for my mailing list if you want to be informed of dates.

That's Chris Wink on the left presenting his work on the archetypes, the different roles we all play in life. Blueman's approach to art meets the neuroscience of learning around the idea of developing 'integrated brains': people able to play many roles, able to be mindful of their own state of mind, and alter it as needed.

NeuroLeadership Summit - call for papers out now
The NeuroLeadership Summits in NYC and Sydney are going well, with many people already booking their places for Sept and October. We have a full range of scientists now confirmed, including the addition of the renowned quantum physicist Henry Stapp. A full program will be available late March, but the basic schedule is now done.
If you are interested in speaking, there is a 'call for papers' now out, click here to receive your copy. Applications close 28 March 2008.
There is also a detailed update about the Summits here.

ROI study shows 39:1 return on investment in internal coaching
While in NYC I connected with around 40 people who had been coached internally at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, a major cancer research hospital there. We were thrilled to complete a return on investment study on this project, finding that the hospital returned at least $39 for every $1 invested in the program, just based on the financial impact that could be measured. What was more exciting though was hearing from the people who had been coached, how their lives at work and at home had been impacted by having someone as a regular positive sounding board.

We presented this case, along with another study showing 17:1 ROI from a project with AIG, at the Conference Board annual Executive Coaching Conference in the US. This has become the leading conference about coaching in the workplace in the USA, the next in NYC in January 2009.

New case study covering work in 64 countries
My work with EDS, training thousands of leaders in 64 countries in a brain-based approach to coaching, was recently published in a professional journal.

Connect with my work in one of three US cities in April - May 08 The Conference Board are putting on a two day event in Las Vegas, Dallas and Boston coming up, called 'Building a Coaching Culture'. I am delivering the first day, and Chris Coffey, a great coach who works with Marshall Goldsmith, is doing the second. There is an introductory webinar for those interested, or go straight to these events for more information.
