Resources for Brain Based Coaching and NeuroLeadership

Here is a listing of some of the latest resources for those interested in the links between the brain, leadership and coaching.

There are far too many (thousands) of resources to put everything here, so this list is meant more as a starting point. I will probably grow this into it's own website later in the year.

Training programs
There is a new 12 week training program on brain based coaching, run by teleconference for people in the US and Asia Pacific. Starts February 2008. Click for details. You can also do a complete coach certification program, ICF Certified, built on the brain based approach to coaching.

Conferences
There is currently only one conference devoted to the field of the brain in business as far as I can tell. The second Global NeuroLeadership Summit will be held sometime around May or June 08. Three days in a converted monastery on top of a mountain in northern Italy provides the right environment to rethink leadership development. Click here to view the 2007 Summit debrief or get info on the 2008 event.

Conferences to check out in 2007

Here are some of the better conferences in 2007 that I recommend for OD, HR and learning professionals interested in coaching.

January, March, June - Conference Board Executive Coaching Summits
These are high powered events, one of only two really good conferences worth checking out for good corporate coaching case studies and research.
I am presenting at these March (Chicago) and June (San Diego) and my team in January in NYC. Click for details.

May - The First Global NeuroLeadership Summit
This is a conference I am involved in, 14-16 May 07, combining neuroscientists and leadership experts. Three days in a converted monastery on top of a mountain in northern Italy provides the right environment to rethink leadership development. Click here

June - The International Consortium for Coaching in Organizations
This group is running small symposiums on coaching in organizations, I am involved in one in Seattle in June which is focused on neuroscience and coaching. Click here.

June - ASTD
This is worth checking out if you’ve never been...a ton of ideas and over 8,000 training people there from around the world. One of the best 'international' conferences in terms of having a global reach. I am presenting a paper called ‘So much to learn, so little time’, looking at applying findings from neuroscience into widescale learning programs. http://www.astd.org

September - CIPD Coaching in the Workplace Conference
This is the other very good event around coaching in the workplace. It’s in London in mid September. Date is around same time in 07. Click here

October - International Positive Psychology Summit
This is fascinating, though it’s very much for positive psychologists – quite a technical conference. The 2006 event details are here. it’s around the same time each year as well.

November - ICF International Conference
This is the biggest event for coaching worldwide, and while it's mostly focused on personal coaching, there are usually some good case studies of organizational work there. There is also a very good executive coaching summit and a research summit just before the event each year.
The conference is in Long Beach CA in October, see the ICF website. Call for papers goes up in Feb 07 if you are interested in speaking.

That should be about enough for one year!
